TERTIARY INSTITUTION SOCIAL HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAMME-TSHIP

TSHIP is a social security system in which the healthcare requirements of students in tertiary institutions are financed from funds created by pooling the contributions from student thereby ensuring access to qualitative healthcare services and promoting the health of the student population and creating conducive learning environment.

The program is targeted at children above 18 years who are no longer covered under the formal sector program and have gained admission into tertiary institution. This group of Nigerians constitutes a very large percentage of the population which makes it imperative for NHIS to establish a program for the purpose of providing for their healthcare needs.

Membership is for full-time students of Federal, State and Private tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Contribution of a uniform actuarially determined amount by tertiary institution students annually, entitles them to a benefit package which is designed to suit their healthcare needs.
